Other Information
Looking east to Syncline Mountain from Mount St. Eloi (courtesy Linda Breton)The surveyors noted in their report that the mountain was named after, "a very apparent physical feature." The word syncline is a geologic term which refers to rock layers which have been folded in such a manner that the beds have been forced down in the middle so as to form a trough.
The mountain is has three high points and forms a horseshoe that contains the headwaters of Suicide Creek which flows out towards the northeast.
A ridge form the centre highpoint connects Syncline Mountain with St. Eloi Mountain on the continental divide. |
