Named by H.A. Stevens in 1912. Chown, Reverend Samuel Dwight (A General Superintendent of the Methodist Church who was instrumental in forming what is now the United Church of Canada) Official name.

This high, glacier draped mountain lies near the northwest corner of Jasper National Park between the Chown Glacier and the Resthaven Glacier.
