Located south of the headwaters of Geikie Creek and north of Icefall Lake. Mount Robson Park, Major headwater Fraser River.

Named by Interprovincial Boundary Survey in 1921. Postern is a castle related term meaning back door or back gate. The mountain stands at the western approach to the Ramparts which are named for their castle-like appearance. posterne, meaning a back door or gate, or an alternate entrance or way Official name.

First ascended in 1927 by Rex Gibson, guided by E. Niederer. Journal reference CAJ 16-116.
