Located on the continental divide at the head of North Alnus Glacier between headwaters of Scott Creek and headwaters of Ross Cox Creek; 1 km north of Mount Scott; 3 km west of Mount Ross Cox. on the border of Jasper & Hamber parks, Alberta/BC border. Major headwaters Athabasca & Columbia rivers.

Named by Alpine Club of Canada in 1953. The ACC members applied this Latin term meaning "New Country." Unofficial name.
