Arriving in Quebec City in July of 1862, they travelled across the continent, wintering near Fort Carlton. After a challenging and at times humorous summer they reached Victoria, BC.
They later co-authored "The North-West Passage by Land" (London, 1865), which described their expedition in considerable detail.
Dr. Cheadle practiced medicine in London and served as dean of St. Mary's Medical School from 1969 to 1873.
Mount Cheadle is located in the Monashee Range of British Columbia, on the east side of the North Thompson River valley, 25 km north of Blue River.
